Pigs in Mud
Just finished reading my brother in laws blog. (see the link to Ty and Sare) and saw the pictures of our nephew Xavier and his new tractor.
As I was reading it and then looking at the photos, the thought he looks as happy as a “pig in mud” came to mind.
Just as I was thinking this Marlee came out and said “I’m as happy as a pig in mud”!
Spooky.
So what made my wife so happy?
A Cup of tea in the sun.
Simple really
GI in a GFC World
What is the GI and what is the GFC?
Sitting in an Actuaries conference I am slowly learning what it means.
General Insurance – impacts of the Global Financial Crisis.
Well what can I say. It’s all doom and gloom! Well not that bad apparently we are slowly coming out of the financial crisis.
So today is another day of increasing my general knowledge about subjects I have no interest in!
Thankfully I have an iPhone and have a few movies loaded. So it’s time for me to switch off my actuaries brain and get back to somthing more me.
Watching Mr Magoo.
It’s on… it’s off
Ah Saturday Sport.
Are we playing or is it off?
This was our question this morning.
It has been raining in Sydney most of the week, which usually means no Soccer on Saturday. But on Friday evening the ground that Jordy was to play at was still open. This morning we awoke to more rain, but still no messages to say his game was cancelled. So we started to get ready. I rugged up in all my wet weather gear, we got a change of clothes for Jordy and some towels. Off we went, only to get a message just after we left to say that the game was called off.
Jordy was rather dissappointed as we had been talking about how much fun it was to play in the rain. Oh well.
Back home, and the rain is still falling and seems to be getting heavier. We call the wet weather number for netball. We get a message telling us that the games are still on…… for the 23rd of May! Nothing like an up to date message.
We ring some other parents of netballers who are already at the courts, and yes it is pouring with rain, and yes the games are still on!
So once again I rug up and head off to the game, the closer we get to the courts the darker the sky gets and the more rain seems to be falling. Arriving at the courts we realise that the game is still on as parking lot is full. Thank goodness for the tiny Getz. (you can always find a parking spot with the Getz)
We meet our team manager who is not happy about the state of the courts and the safety of playing in the pouring rain, she is told by the “authorities” that it is all safe.
When we get to the court we see an ambulance, and are informed it is the third one for the day! (it’s only 11:30am) So much for this game being safe in the wet! There are three parents that will have something to say about that!
Anyway the girls make it through without incident and apart from being soaked to the skin had a fun time.
Another Saturday of sport is over….. time to rest…
Here are a couple of shots from warmer days.

TV Quote
I have been sitting in a conference all weekend, going slightly bonkers.
But it has meant that I have caught up on all my emails, blog reading, RSS feeds and have even had the chance to tidy up the hard drive.
Anyway I came across the following quote while reading some emails.
“Don’t you wish there was a knob on the TV to turn up the intelligence? There’s one marked ‘Brightness,’ but it doesn’t work.” – Gallagher.
Funny stuff.
But then I wondered who is Gallagher?
A short trip to Wikipedia later and I find out that…
Gallagher (born Leo Anthony Gallagher on July 26, 1946) is an American comedian and prop comic, most popularly known for smashing watermelons as part of his act.
Well there you go…. I have successfully wasted 5 minutes of your day with a totally worthless piece of information, but more importantly filled in 15min of my day. So thanks for reading.
