It’s on… it’s off
Ah Saturday Sport.
Are we playing or is it off?
This was our question this morning.
It has been raining in Sydney most of the week, which usually means no Soccer on Saturday. But on Friday evening the ground that Jordy was to play at was still open. This morning we awoke to more rain, but still no messages to say his game was cancelled. So we started to get ready. I rugged up in all my wet weather gear, we got a change of clothes for Jordy and some towels. Off we went, only to get a message just after we left to say that the game was called off.
Jordy was rather dissappointed as we had been talking about how much fun it was to play in the rain. Oh well.
Back home, and the rain is still falling and seems to be getting heavier. We call the wet weather number for netball. We get a message telling us that the games are still on…… for the 23rd of May! Nothing like an up to date message.
We ring some other parents of netballers who are already at the courts, and yes it is pouring with rain, and yes the games are still on!
So once again I rug up and head off to the game, the closer we get to the courts the darker the sky gets and the more rain seems to be falling. Arriving at the courts we realise that the game is still on as parking lot is full. Thank goodness for the tiny Getz. (you can always find a parking spot with the Getz)
We meet our team manager who is not happy about the state of the courts and the safety of playing in the pouring rain, she is told by the “authorities” that it is all safe.
When we get to the court we see an ambulance, and are informed it is the third one for the day! (it’s only 11:30am) So much for this game being safe in the wet! There are three parents that will have something to say about that!
Anyway the girls make it through without incident and apart from being soaked to the skin had a fun time.
Another Saturday of sport is over….. time to rest…
Here are a couple of shots from warmer days.

Winter Sport is here….
Winter sport is here, so expect the winter sport photos to return.
Here are two from the last two weeks.

Come on!
We recieved the local rag tonight and have been expecting to see a picture of the local netball teams that won the other week. Marlee grabbed it first, flicked through the pages and said “nothing in it this week”. I then picked it up and started to read it, once I got past the four pages of local council election rubbish I noticed a very small article about the netballers. Beside this article are three pictures, the pictures are about the size of a five cent piece! To actually see anything you needed to get out a magnifying glass, which as you can see is what we did.
Oh well if we want to get decent coverage we will have to head to Wagga!
Champions
Winners are grinners, but they can give you an ulcer along the way!
It was a seesawing game.
Alannah’s team was only ever in front by one for most of the game. Then as the last quarter was drawing to a close they went behind only to scrape back level just before full time.
Which put the game into extra time. A long range shot by Alannah put her team in front an then another quick goal gave them a two point buffer, it was all they needed to hold on to win by one! Well done Rebels well done Alannah.
Saturday Sport
The kids are playing Saturday sport this year, and due to work commitments I have yet to get to a game. The plan was that today I would be taking Jordy to soccer and Marlee taking Alannah to Netball. Unfortunately Jordys soccer was washed out, but that meant that we all got to go and see Alannah play Netball.
Alannah is playing for the Berowra Rebels. They won again, which means that they are well and truly at the top of their table.
I must say that I find Netball rather frustrating, mainly because I do not understand the rules, I really need a sister to come and stand beside me and explain the rules!
Although I do not understand all the rules I still enjoy seeing my daughter having fun and playing, it is also enjoyable seeing her shoot. When you look at this shot you realise how far they have to shoot. She has a fairly good success rate as well. (Proud Dad talking!!)
