It’s on… it’s off
Ah Saturday Sport.
Are we playing or is it off?
This was our question this morning.
It has been raining in Sydney most of the week, which usually means no Soccer on Saturday. But on Friday evening the ground that Jordy was to play at was still open. This morning we awoke to more rain, but still no messages to say his game was cancelled. So we started to get ready. I rugged up in all my wet weather gear, we got a change of clothes for Jordy and some towels. Off we went, only to get a message just after we left to say that the game was called off.
Jordy was rather dissappointed as we had been talking about how much fun it was to play in the rain. Oh well.
Back home, and the rain is still falling and seems to be getting heavier. We call the wet weather number for netball. We get a message telling us that the games are still on…… for the 23rd of May! Nothing like an up to date message.
We ring some other parents of netballers who are already at the courts, and yes it is pouring with rain, and yes the games are still on!
So once again I rug up and head off to the game, the closer we get to the courts the darker the sky gets and the more rain seems to be falling. Arriving at the courts we realise that the game is still on as parking lot is full. Thank goodness for the tiny Getz. (you can always find a parking spot with the Getz)
We meet our team manager who is not happy about the state of the courts and the safety of playing in the pouring rain, she is told by the “authorities” that it is all safe.
When we get to the court we see an ambulance, and are informed it is the third one for the day! (it’s only 11:30am) So much for this game being safe in the wet! There are three parents that will have something to say about that!
Anyway the girls make it through without incident and apart from being soaked to the skin had a fun time.
Another Saturday of sport is over….. time to rest…
Here are a couple of shots from warmer days.

Missed!

Winter Sport is here….
Winter sport is here, so expect the winter sport photos to return.
Here are two from the last two weeks.

Gala Day
Today was the last day for soccer. Memories of Gala days past came flooding back. Making sure you did’t give away corners, having ten minutes between games, and playing five games in a row. What I don’t remember was how cold it was! Today was freezing, I think maybe it was because we spent four hours out in the freezing cold that I still am struggling to get warm.
After the game we came back to the Berowra club house for the boys to get a trophey. You could’t get the smile of Jordys face!
Come on Ref!
This photo was from a couple of weeks ago, but seeing that I didn’t take the camera to the game this week I thought I should add one.
It has been wonderful to watch the boys develop as players and also as a team, much of this is down to the super coach, Mr Dodd.
Doddy has really been instrumental in getting the boys to work together as a team. Todays game saw the boys beat St Ives 4-3, it was a really great result especially considering last time they played they were beaten 8 nil!
Jordy was especially pleased to have scored a goal. It was a cracker, he smashed it from halfway and it went like a bullet into the back of the net, it wasn’t fluke as he almost pulled it a few minutes before hand.
But back to this shot, Jordy was actually complaining about the end of the match! He really was hoping that the game was not over.

Whomungus!
Wow that was a “whomungus kick”
This is the “word” that Jordy uses to describe something that is bigger than huge. And this kick was WHOMUNGUS!!!
